Remote Himalayan valley untouched wilderness

BEYOND THE GUIDEBOOK

THE HIMALAYAS THE CROWDS NEVER FIND.

Forget the Instagram trails. These are the passes, lakes, valleys and villages that reward the genuinely curious — places where the mountain still belongs to you.

WHY GO OFFBEAT

The best Himachal isn't on any map you've seen.

Every year, thousands of trekkers walk the same ten trails. They're beautiful — but they're shared. The real Himachal Pradesh is a labyrinth of forgotten passes, sacred lakes, and villages so remote they still run on barter.

Our offbeat expeditions are designed for trekkers who've done the popular routes and are ready for something that asks more of them — more preparation, more patience, and a willingness to be genuinely surprised.

Kangra

Thamsar Pass

The Forgotten Crossing of the Dhauladhar

One of the most remote passes in the Dhauladhar range, Thamsar connects the Kangra valley to the Chamba district through terrain that sees fewer than a hundred trekkers a year. The route crosses three high-altitude lakes and a glacier before the final push to the pass.

Buran Ghati

The Rappel Pass of the Himalayas

Buran Ghati is famous for one thing: the descent. After a gruelling climb to the pass, trekkers rappel down a near-vertical snow face on the other side — a 60-metre abseil that separates the serious from the spectacular. The approach through Rupin valley is equally stunning.

Beas Kund

The Source of a Sacred River

Most trekkers drive past the Rohtang Pass without knowing that a short walk away lies the glacial lake that gives birth to the Beas river. Beas Kund is a meditative, uncrowded trek through alpine meadows and moraines, ending at a lake of extraordinary stillness.

Hampta Pass

Where Green Valleys Become Moonscapes

Hampta Pass is a study in contrast — you begin in the lush Kullu valley and emerge into the stark, lunar landscape of Lahaul in a single day's crossing. The route is technically accessible but emotionally overwhelming, especially when combined with a side trip to Chandra Tal.

Pin Parvati Pass

The Hardest Trek in Himachal

Pin Parvati is the ultimate Himachal crossing — a ten-day traverse from the lush Parvati valley to the cold desert of Spiti, crossing a 5,319m pass with no margin for error. The route is remote, the weather unpredictable, and the experience utterly transformative.

Chandra Tal

The Moon Lake of Spiti

Shaped like a crescent moon and ringed by barren Spiti mountains, Chandra Tal is one of the most otherworldly lakes in India. Accessible only in summer, it rewards those who make the journey with water so blue it looks painted.

Chitkul

The Last Village Before Tibet

Chitkul is the last inhabited village on the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route — a cluster of wooden houses perched above the Baspa river, surrounded by apple orchards and snow peaks. Beyond it, the road ends and the border begins.

Tirthan Valley

The Valley the Tourism Industry Forgot

Tucked inside the buffer zone of the Great Himalayan National Park, Tirthan Valley is everything Manali used to be — clear rivers, dense deodar forests, trout fishing, and guesthouses run by families who've lived here for generations. No crowds, no noise.
